TRACK HERE AND NOW CLOSED GROUP

Purpose:
The closed group’s purpose is to provide a safe environment from which individuals could develop or restore a healthier sense of self and venture out into the overwhelming world.

The purpose of these groups is to reduce and resolve problems. Members who regularly attend sessions will experience significant improvement in merging with different life situations and performing appropriately. A further note is that the members can stay in this group as long as needed. Possible purposes also include providing social support, learning support, and health support.

Methodology:
Living with past undesirable impacts can be challenging. Our flexible group model takes into account the unique problems of people which affect their present relationship and their daily routine. Most often their struggle is because of not being aware of what their problems are and the inability to accept they have problems. Some of them know their problems and believe there are no solutions to their problems.

The group allows participants to attend the group meetings at will. The sessions are planned so that each session could stand alone, therefore allowing for a variance in attendees. Members are welcomed back into the group even after missing one or several sessions.

In this group counseling, there will be a combination of cognitive therapy approach, psychoeducation, social skills training, supportive counseling and strategies of two chair technique, and role-playing.

Although the work discussed utilizes numerous features of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, psychodrama, skills building, and numerous other group strategies the overarching model is that of a non-judgmental stance that deals with personal issues. Essentially this is a process where by group members agree to help each other and by doing so,
they help heal themselves. While conducting the group meetings, the leader with skills will help the group members overcome feelings of isolation, inadequacy, and shame, all associated with the issues of self-esteem.

The group may consist of between 8 to 15 members of diverse backgrounds both male and female. Members will have multiple means for bonding together and a broad influence on one another.

The methods we will utilize are focused on building mutuality and empathy among members to encourage participation. We assume group members would become regulars. We assure the safety, supportiveness, and respectfulness of all participants.

  • Sessions will build on the past sessions while also standing on their own with a beginning, middle and end.

  • There will be a clearly developed set of group tasks so that group members view group attendance as beneficial.

  • Participation is voluntary and each member will be able to remain with the learning team and participate in the regular meetings.

  • The ages may range from 20 to 60+.
